Now
about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex
certainof the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
And
because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter
also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
And
when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him
to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to
bring him forth to the people.
It has been said by some, attempting to
defend
the King James translators, that the day
of passover was over and that the 7 day feast of unleavened bread, which
was being celebrated at that time, was not actually passover.
They say that Herod was waiting until after
a
Roman festival day
in honor of a pagan goddess before bringing Peter forth to the people.
Some say that the King James translators
were
justified to use the name of a pagan goddess from their own time period
(EASTER).
