COLOSSIANS 2:16 HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RESTING ON
THE SEVENTH DAY SABBATH
The Greek word
used in Colossians 2:16 is
the same Greek word translated "week"
in other places by King James
translators.
The word used in Colossians 2:16 is different from the Greek word
which is used to indicate more than one weekly sabbath day.

COLOSSIANS 2:16)
CLEARLY REFERS TO MORE THAN ONE 7TH DAY SABBATH.
Matthew 12:10
And, behold, there was a man which had his hand
withered.
And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the
sabbath
days?
Luke 4:31
And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on
the
sabbath days.
Luke 6:2
And certain of the Pharisees said unto them,
Why do ye that which is
not lawful to do on the
sabbath days?

A STUDY OF THE GREEK WORD USED IN COLOSSIANS 2:16
WHICH
REFERS TO WEEK OR WEEKS IS DIFFERENT FROM THE GREEK WORD
USED
TO REFER TO MORE THAN ONE SEVENTH DAY SABBATH.
IF THE WRITERS OF THE GREEK
TEXT HAD INTENDED TO INDICATE 7TH DAY SABBATHS "PLURAL" THEY COULD
HAVE EASILY DONE SO. INSTEAD THEY CHOSE TO USE A WORD THAT WOULD CLEARLY
DISTINGUISH IT FROM 7TH DAY SABBATHS.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR STUDENTS OF GREEK:
There are other references which
should be considered.
Luke 4:16, Acts 13:14. Acts 16:13 and Matthew 28:1.
The word sabbath is associated with
other words which are used
to specify a portion of the week.
If you will notice, in Luke 4:16,
Acts 13:14 and Acts 16:13 the word
day (dative case - indirect object) is associated with sabbath.
Those references do not read the sabbath day in Greek,
but rather the day of the sabbath (the day of the week.)
That is the reason that sabbath in those instances is considered
genitive.
It follows the word that it is modifying - day.
In Matthew 28:1, the word sabbath is
used twice.
1. sabbath is in association with the word translated end (end of
the sabbath)
2. sabbath is in association with the word one (first day of the sabbath).
